I love the color Green. I like glittery stuff. Red oak is the sexiest wood grown in Pennsylvania. Thick wood shells spund great- I smushed all that fun stuff into this drum.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eTo start things off I built a shell from some beautiful old-growth Pennsylvania Red Oak. The growth rings in this timber are packed tight indicating a tree that grew slowly and also exceptional density and strength. Perfect for backbeat machine gun of a snare drum. To really bring out the punch, volume, power, and focus usually associated with oak drums I super-sized the shell. The shell is a 14x7 size, and is 1.25\" thick. The equivalent of a 150 ply shell! With all this mass the drum speaks quickly, lots of attack and a quick decay. Great for cutting through the mix in a live setting or laying down a concise backbeat in the studio.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWith all that power under the hood, I wanted it to look as good as it sounded. So I came up with a custom blended lacquer finish that is both classy and flashy.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIt starts with a base coat of forest green pearl paint. This gives the lacquer a deep green backdrop with a subtle shimmer. Then its off to the races with the custom blended Metallic flake. I used three different flavors of green flake, moss green, forest green, and gecko green- basically a dark, medium, and light green. The blend of all three colors makes for a delightful sparkle that has real depth and variety.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThen I topped everything off with the highest quality components to really make for a workhorse of a snare that should be ready for lifetime of service. I started with my signature CNC-machined HHG single point lug, then added a touch of vintage class with the 4mm no-flange hoops and classic hoop claws. The drum features a smooth and sleek Inde strainer, die cast butt plate, and die cast air vent, as well as an antique bronze limited edition HHG badge. I topped it off with a Evans hazy 300 snare side head, clear G2 batter, and a set of puresound custom pro 24 strand brass snare wires.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIn addition it features my re-designed internal tone control mechanism. It allows you to muffling to the batter head instantly, as well as to fine tune the muffling to find just the right amount needed. Ans the best part is its always ready to to, always with you- no need for any external muffling devices or do-dads. The mechanism features a classy mahogany operation knob with an engraved HHG logo. Our mufflers are guaranteed to never fall apart inside your drum, and feature a factory set positive stop to prevent the player from adjusting it to far away from the head.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eI built this snare like i was building it for myself.
