The shell is made from raw steel flat stock that is rolled by hand into a perfect cylinder and then welded at the seam. The edges of the shell are a full baseball bat round over that have been sanded and smoothed to perfection. The shell features a deep and wide snare bed to accommodate any type of snare wires. Using steel in this way produces an amazingly bright, powerful, and responsive shell. The shell itself weighs in about 16 lb.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWe wanted to go further with this drum, so we also made the hoops. The hoops are made from 3\/16 in thick carbon steel flat bar. We hand roll and weld these as well. After the hoop is shaped and welded, we machine one edge perfectly flat so that the hoop will interface seamlessly with the drum head.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe drum pictured in this listing was custom-built for a client, and if you order today we will be building you one from scratch. That means that you have the opportunity to customize this drum however you would like. We can build you an exact replica of what's pictured here, or weekend change the hardware, change the size, do whatever you can think of...
