HHG Drums 14x5.5 Beechwood Snare Drum, Golden Emerald

I have a great reverence for vintage drums. Specifically those examples from the sixties and seventies when drum sets were visually loud, boisterous, and beautiful. This snare is me paying homage to those wonderful drums of old.

The snare is based around a 13 ply Beechwood shell. This species is an excellent tonewood that is often overlooked due to its scarcity in North America. It is a hugely popular species in Europe, mainly due to its abundance. Is a very hard wood, but just slightly softer than the hard maple used in the majority of modern drums. This gives it a more wet, round, fat tone.

The fun part for us on this drum is the finish. It features a super fun Lime Green to Forest Green burst with a heavy dose of vintage gold flake. We wet sand, buff, polish, and wax our high gloss finishes the old school way. So that it shines like a 50s rat rod.

The hardware on this drum is simple, clean, and effective. It features low-mass single point lugs, 42 strand snare wires, 2.3 mm triple flanged hoops, a diecast air vent, but plate, and antique brass HHG badge. In the provided picture all of the hardware is brass plated, though we could do it in any flavor you would like.
