HHG drums 14x5.5 Stainless Steel (Pre Order) 2020 Candy Blue High Gloss Lacquer Over Textured Metal

This is a pre-order listing for the exact snare drum shell pictured in the photos. This is a prototype that we were working on, and we wanted to offer it for sale for body that might be interested. Basically we haven't added Hardware to the drum yet, but if you purchase it today we we'll get it all put together and send it your way.

The details:
For this build we started out with one of our handmade 304 surgical grade stainless steel shells. The shell is a thin 16 gauge material (.0625") with no additional flanges at the edges, or beads in the center. This makes for a shell that is incredibly resonant, and vibrant sounding.

The finish on this drum is what we were really excited to try out. Basically after we rolled and welded the shell, we put it on our metal lathe and hand textured the metal with various different abrasive techniques to achieve a flowing and swirling scratch pattern that almost emulates water or wood grain. To really take it up a couple extra notches, we then applied a high gloss candy blue lacquer with just an ever-so-slight burst over top of the textured metal. Then, over top of that we also added some clear coat that features five different colors of  metallic flake ( teal, purple, and three shades of blue). The resulting finish is one of the most beautiful finishes on a metal drum I think I've ever seen. It shimmers in the light and constantly changes depending on how you look at it and how you move it. The blue color is absolutely perfect. A lustrous, and deep ocean blue. Everybody at the shop is head over heels in love with this snare, we kind of hate to sell it, but this instrument needs to be played!

We can do the hardware in 4 different flavors, when you buy the drum you get to pick which one. Chrome, black nickel, gold, or oil rubbed bronze. After you purchase the drum, just send us a message and let us know which one you want!

It is set up for 10 center-mounted single point lugs, vintage style strainer, diecast butt plate, internal tone control mechanism, and our standard diecast badge. The price of this listing includes 2.3 mm triple flanged hoops.

As with all of our drums and listings shown, when you place an order with HHG Drums, your new instrument will be hand-crafted in house, from scratch. The drum shown in the pictures was built for a customer, and now resides with them. We would love to build one for you!
