HHG Drums 14"x7" Carbon Steel Snare, Dazzling Red

While metal snare drums have been extremely popular over the years for many genres of music, at HHG Drums, we decided to take a different direction when a customer wanted a steel snare drum...

We start with premium quality, high carbon steel . Each shell is hand rolled and welded in our shop. We spent a considerable amount of time smoothing and cleaning up the weld lines, so that the single seam blended flawlessly into the drum, not even discernable to the touch, and barely so to the eye. We carefully rounded over the top and bottom edges of the shell, so that the drum would have great response and tone from the bearing edges.

After drilling for hardware and hand chamfering each hole, we powdercoated the entire shell a Dazzling Red, making for a visually stunning and super strong finish sheen.

This drum was dressed all in chrome, with our proprietary HHG "Gear" tube lugs, die-cast air vent, Antique Silver badging, a classy strainer from Inde Labs, die cast buttplate, Evans drumhead package, and Puresound Pro snare wires.

This drum (of course) has power for days. But it's also extremely sensitive, bringing out both the gentlest ghost note and the hardest rimshot. It's super expressive at all tunings, and could easily be a jack-of-all-trades instrument for the working drummer, perfect for both studio and live applications.

We are super stoked at how well this drum came out, and we can't wait to build another.
