HHG drums 14x7 Spalted Maple Stave 2020 Natural To Black High Gloss Burst Lacquer

This drum features a very rare piece of Timber. Pennsylvania spalted hard maple. Spalted wood is a very hard Lumber to acquire, simply because it is not actually a species of wood, but rather a process of Decay that happens to a log in only a very certain set of circumstances. Basically a tree will die, and fungus will start to move its way through the grain structure which creates those beautiful black, blue, and gray fissures in the grain. The difficult part, is finding a log before it has decayed to the point of being unstable, but after it has spalted enough to become beautiful. We lucked out and found this spalted lumber at one of our local dealers. It has the beautiful classic tone of a maple drum with the amazing Aesthetics of spalted wood.

On top of the already beautiful grain, we also applied a high gloss natural to black burst lacquer finish to this drum. We outfitted it with hybrid bearing edges, featuring a 45 degree inside cut, quarter inch radius outside cut, and a hand Blended Apex.

The drum features our signature single point lugs, 2.3 millimeter triple flanged hoops, inde strainer, diecast butt plate, diecast air vent, internal tone control mechanism with CNC machined aluminum operation knob, antique silver diecast hhg badge, puresound snare wires, and Evans drum heads. All in a luxurious black nickel plating.

As with all of our drums and listings shown, when you place an order with HHG Drums, your new instrument will be hand-crafted in house, from scratch. The drum shown in the pictures was built for a customer, and now resides with them. We would love to build one for you!
